Providing education, food, shelter, and other basic necessities for disadvantaged children in West Shewa, Ethiopia.

In response to an urgent need in the community, New Hope organization set up a K-10 school and orphanage in December 2000 to provide care, child restoration and development through education. It provides basic necessities and increased learning outcomes for orphans, children with disabilities, and children of impoverished single moms by making financial and material resources available. Today New Hope cares for nearly 100 orphans and educates more than 700 children. Currently, they are short covering their expenses by $3,000 each month. They are raising funds to start a poultry farm that would cover 25% of their monthly costs, bringing them closer to complete self-sustainability.

Orphans, children with disabilities, and children of impoverished families severely suffer because of socioeconomic depletion and have become vulnerable to hazards that deny them access to basic necessities and services.

I would have not survived if Addis Tesfa was not on my side. I am 17 now and celebrating my 8th year of joining Addis Tesfa from a destitute family. I have almost everything here. Thanks to God, I have completed my high school here in Addis Tesfa and awaiting for my 10th grade results. I want to be dental doctor. …
