Vision & Mission Statement

Vision: To be an organization that can provide integrated and sustainable socioeconomic services for orphans, disabled and community poverty stricken children and to see happy children not suffering from socioeconomic conditions and participate as equals in the lives of their community. 

Mission statement: To work towards improving the socioeconomic condition of orphans, disabled and poverty stricken children and supporting program towards achieving their education. Thus NHCCH is striving to open bright world to these children so as to empower them by creating opportunities to access education, training and other basic services and enable them actively participate in the development affairs of their society and nation.

  1.  Inputs and assets of the organization 

  1. The major inputs of NHCCH used to achieve its mission, organizational goal as well as realize the desired outcomes/results through outputs and project activities include national as well as regional laws, development policies, including the constitution, different covenants signed by the government, specific policies (e.g. education, health, HIV/AIDS, Disability, women, youth policy) and NGO registration proclamation. The other inputs include registration license, management/board, financial resource or funding, land, buildings, materials, office equipment, iddir, churches, local community, support from international volunteers, families of direct beneficiaries, technical support from local government and international donors. Moreover, working manuals/guidelines, office infrastructure, vehicles, human resources (employees) and volunteers of the organization could also be considered as the assets and inputs of NHCCH used to implement the programs and initiatives geared towards meeting the mission and vision of the organization. 

 Major interventions, management practices and track of records 

 Major programs/interventions 

The New Hope Center for children and Handicapped has been striving to alleviate the socioeconomic challenges faced by the beneficiaries even since its establishment. Below are indicated some of the contribution the organization made to the target beneficiaries. 

Since its establishment, NHCH has achieved the following tracks of records: 

  • More than 433 students drawn from destitute families in the town and rural areas getting free access to education and full school material support. 

  • 84 male and female residential beneficiary students including orphans, handicapped and vulnerable children getting full boarding accommodation with reading spaces. 

  • Functional tablets were provided for students. 

  • 84 vulnerable children beneficiaries who are living in the institutional compound getting access to full meal/food service, clean water, shoes, clothing’s, personal hygienic materials, primary healthcare, sports and recreation, mentoring, psychosocial support. 

  • Since 2014 a functional high school has begun enrolling students. 

  • Generator for electric power and tap water services availed for the children and local community. 

  • Visits of the children to the places/homes of their families facilitated per semester/annually. 

  • Local and international partnerships established/strengthened. 

  • International volunteers identified and deployed for their technical and professional support services. 

  • Meetings were conducted with local government bodies. 

  • Recreational visits were facilitating outside Guder and Ambo for all children and staff. 

  • Needy orphans, the handicapped and vulnerable children received medical treatment through referral linkages with hospitals in Gudar, Ambo and Addis Ababa. 

  • Staff employed and benefiting themselves and their families. 

  • Staff members trained to improve their capacities for better services. 

  • Land secured in Guder with low cost price for expanding the existing school, establishing 1st cycle primary school for blinds and deaf children, farm projects for the target beneficiaries. 

  • Donations of different materials and gifts received from international and local partners 

According to focus group discussion with direct beneficiaries(aged  between 14  and 18) many of whom were joined Addis Tesfa (New Hope) starting from KG and currently benefiting from dormitory services. They declared that NHCH is offering them free education, school materials, personal care and hygiene materials, shoes, clothing, shelter, food, healthcare, counseling, mentoring, guiding, listening, caring, loving. Hence, the say NHCH like our home.  

The children reiterated that this organization is like our father and mother as it brought us here from a place where we had no chance to go to school, no access to school materials, nothing to eat and dress, and the home we were living was dilapidated. Now we got the opportunities and real life from New Hope ..it is indeed NEW HOPE FOR US(in  Amharic…new hope center beirgitimaddistefa new legna…). Now we are becoming full human we have vision of being medical doctor, engineer, dentist, etc. Look, I joined Addis Tesfa while I was 8 years old girl, now I am 17 years old adolescent, my rights for education, food, health, all ensured. It is real life...look I am properly learning, I have nice dormitory, am well dressed, eating good food on time which never do before coming to Addis Tesfa, I have more vision of contributing to my country. One of the male participants says“…I would have not survived if Addis Tesfais not on my side. I am 17 now and celebrating 8th year of joining Addis Tesfa from destitute family. I have got almost everything here. Thanks to God, I have completed my high school here in Addis Tesfa and awaiting for 10th grade result. I hope I will score more than 3.6  I want to be dental doctor. …”All of the group discussants say this“…..Thanks to Addis Tesfa!, Thanks to our donors, thanks to our volunteers…..keep on visiting us , supporting our tesfa…we have very great vision…”
